Holy Baptism & Church Membership

Two very special milestones in our spiritual journey are baptism and church membership.

We believe baptism is a sacrament signifying regeneration (the new birth), and our acceptance of the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ.  For believers, baptism is a public profession of faith in Christ.  But first and foremost, baptism is God’s sign and God’s act of grace for us.
Since baptism is the symbol of the new covenant, Christian parents are encouraged to bring their young children to the sacramental waters of baptism.  “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs” (Jesus; Matthew 19:14, NRSV)
Recognizing that baptism is commanded by our Lord, and since it is the sacrament of initiation into the Body of Christ, the Church, we encourage everyone to follow Christ’s example and receive the grace of God poured out through the sacrament of holy baptism.  (Baptism may be administered by sprinkling, pouring, or immersion.)

In addition to baptism, we also encourage those who have accepted Christ as their Lord & Savior to consider church membership. Committing to church membership provides opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship. service and accountability.
